Why should I sponsor this event? (or What do I get out of it?)

The event is run and managed by volunteers. Over one hundred people will participate in making this event happen – but unfortunately; the logistics of the event surpass what people can physically do. Chartering the J/22s; fueling the umpire and race committee boats; feeding the 30 on-the-water volunteers, 40 competitors, and 12 umpires; and the myriad of other expenses must be covered for the event to be held. Other than helping us put on an excellent event, there are a number of benefits that a sponsor will receive:

  • Public Relations/Media Exposure – all major sponsors will receive billing in all the press releases, results announcements and other communications about the event. (see the PR section below for a list of the publications and TV stations that have done stories on the event in the past).
  • Print Advertising – the event will have a program that will be published as a part of Spinsheet magazine, an East Coast sailing magazine with 30,000 copies produced.
  • Customer/Employee relations – at most sponsorship levels, you will be able to bring a number of people out to watch the races and/or mingle with the competitors afterwards. Use this as incentives or to reward employees, or bring out favorite customers or ones that you are in the process of wooing.
  • Support Women’s Athletics – This is an intangible that has a return that is not immediate or visible, but sponsorship of these events is what allows women’s sports to grow even with (or exceed) the men’s events.
